Roman Maurer (1852-1884) - Polish historian-medievalist; studied in Lviv under Ksawery Liske, then in Berlin, in 1879 defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Lviv and began work as a teacher at the Brody Gymnasium.
Stanislaw Smolka (1854-1924) - Polish historian, co-founder and representative of the Krakow school of history, son of prominent lawyer and politician Franciszek Smolka.
