Paziowie króla Zygmunta is a historical novel that belongs to the canon of Polish literature for children. The plot of the novel is set in Wawel Castle during the times of Poland's greatest splendor known as the Golden Age. The protagonists of the novel are the pansies of King Sigismund the Old, famous at court for their predilection for pranks and tricks. They organize a competition for the funniest mischief. In the background of the merry adventures of the pageants play out colorful palace intrigues accompanying the appearance at the Polish court of the Italian princess Bona.
The novel by Antonina Domanska, the grande dame of the Polish historical novel, was filmed in 1989 as a five-episode television series entitled The Paziowie.
