"Szwoleżerowie gwardii" concludes the so-called Napoleonic trilogy by Wacław Gąsiorowski. The story is set during Napoleon's Moscow campaign of 1812.
The author studied the Polonica collections at the Rapperswil Museum, and wandered around Europe along the routes of Napoleon's campaigns. He was on Elba and Corsica, visited the battlefields of Marengo, Somosierra and Wagram while collecting documentation for the Cheval Legers of the Guard.
