Work authored by Roman Jakimowicz (1889-1951), archaeologist and museologist, researcher of Slavic issues, and Józef Żurowski (1892-1936), archaeologist and art historian, conservator of prehistoric monuments in western Małopolska and Silesia. It contains a study of all earthen fortifications from the area of the then Silesian province.

On the boards are plans and photographs of fortified settlements in the Bielsko, Katowice, Lubliniec, Pszczyna and Rybnik districts (Bielsko Stare, Bieruń Stary, Kochłowice, Kotówka, Lubomia, Międzyświecie, Mikołów and Woźniki).
