Good condition, rubbing of the binding, small dampstain at the bottom of the margin on pg. 1-65 visible in the photo, small foxing - BEAUTIFUL piece!

Banach 309. double-spaced text. one-volume edition of one of the most beautiful works promoting Polish history and culture, published by Leonard (1800-1871) and Olimpia (1797-1889) Chodźko. Itcovers the history of Poland from the time of the death of Jan III Sobieski to 1815.The engravings show views of cities, buildings and monuments, historical figures and scenes, monuments, among others.a beautiful panorama of Cracow, the Grand Theater in Warsaw, the Baltic coast, Napoleon looking at Copernicus' house in Torun, a church in Malatycze, a plan of the Battle of Kliszów, a colored publisher's fold-out map of Poland, portraits of Prince Jozef Poniatowski, Kosciuszko, Pulawski, Kniaziewicz, Jan Henryk Dabrowski and many others. There are several nice woodcut vignettes in the text. At the end of the volume is a 32-page list of names of Polish and French subscribers printed in three columns. It includes more than 6,000 names.
