Balthasar (Italian: Baldassare) Fontana (1661-1733) - stucco artist from the bailiwick of Mendrisio (now the southern part of the canton of Ticino), active in Malopolska and Moravia.
Julian Pagaczewski (1874-1940) - art historian, professor at Jagiellonian University, member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences.
