Treasure Island, an adventure novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson about the fate of pirates searching for hidden treasure. It was first published in its entirety in 1883, while it appeared in episodes in the children's magazine Young Folks from 1881 to 1882. Stevenson got the idea to write Treasure Island when, for fun, he drew his 12-year-old foster son Lloyd Osbourne a map and at the same time came up with a story about pirates explaining it. He then began successively writing the adventure story, which was published in episodes in a children's periodical. The novel was screened more than a dozen times.
