He used his extensive knowledge of people and localities, supplemented by studying documents in the rich family archive and other Volyn archives, as well as from oral accounts, to write down excerpts of memoirs, historical and moral sketches, which he first published in magazines ("Gazeta Lwowska", "Przewodnik Naukowo-Literacki", "Kłosy", "Biblioteka Warszawska"), also signing them with pseudonyms or code names. Individual works, reprinted, sometimes reworked and supplemented, later became part of separately published volumes. K. also compiled extensive diaries, the main source for his biography. He was the author of the works Szkice obyczajowe i historyczne (W. 1882), Wandering from the Sources to the Mouth of the Horynia River (Kr. 1891), Jak to in illo tempore bywało. All of K-ego's works are connected in subject matter with works of a clearly autobiographical character. K.'s memoirs covered the period from early childhood to 1903, although he did not strictly adhere to the chronological order, and the flow of the story was often interrupted by historical digressions.Source: PSB, T.12
