Historical and geographic description of the Polish lands (Crown, Lithuania, Prussia, Ukraine) and the history of Poland brought to the time of the Congress Kingdom, by K. Malte-Brun by the famous Danish geographer co-founder of the French Geographical Society. The work is supplemented with a history of Polish laws by Joachim Lelewel and notes on Polish literature by Michal Podczaszynski. Two color fold-out maps of Poland (before the partitions and after the Congress of Vienna). The new edition was prepared by Leonard Chodźko. The work was written after Napoleon's armies entered the borders of the former Republic (1st edition in 1807) and was intended to bring Poland closer to the French reader.
